The dock has been removed from the water for the season at Wildhorse State Recreation Area. Recent warmer weather and winds are slowing down the ice formation. As of 12/14/23 ice fishing on the reservoir is NOT safe. In the remaining open water, anglers have been targetting trout with rooster-tails, spoons, or Rapalas. Anglers that are fly fishing may have success stripping wooly bugger or leech patterns, or fishing balance leeches and midge patterns under an indicator. The new Nevada State Record for yellow perch was caught on 12/13/23. The fish weighed in at 1lb 9oz and measured 14.125 inches. Even with a catch this big, perch fishing will remain slow due to the die off last year. Special Regulations: Anglers may keep 1 black bass and 1 wiper measuring a minimum of 15 inches.
