Shasta Lake browns biting!

We ventured out on Shasta Lake today with Rob and Patty looking for a few big bites and we didn’t go home scratching our heads. We started our day with a 6 lb. brown caught on a Trinidad Tackle #4 Optimizer with no weight 120’ behind a side planer. We fought some surface debris on the upper McCloud arm but water color is still great! Shasta has come up over 10’ since I fished last so I was a bit worried about conditions before I got out today. We had a lull in the action for a while and covered a lot of water searching for more bites. We finally found some rainbow trout action and most of that action came at the confluence of the McCloud and Pit arms of the lake. We tried a few new Optimizer jr glow colors and the black with glow dots was hot just as I imagined it would be. Phils Propeller has a good supply of Optimizers on hand but they won’t last long after this post I’m sure. Get them while you can or wait for the next shipment! We finished up around noon and headed in for the day. It was an awesome day and the weather was amazing! Things will continue to improve as we get closer to March, especially when we get some stable weather patterns! March dates are filling quickly but we do have several dates left the last two weeks of February. Call Jaynie at (530) 510-2925 for availability. Catch and release of Shasta’s big browns is encouraged but not required when fishing with us. Shasta has a 5 trout, 5 salmon, and 5 bass limit per angler per day. Thank you for your continued support! Stay tuned for more reports this week as we continue to locate fish prior to our spring season starting in mid February. Thank you!
