Water Conditions

The little truckee has still got great flows with the weekly average lately being around 140 CFS. Since the Little Truckee is a tail water stream, the temperatures do not fluctuate much. This makes the fish much more comfortable. The thing to really look for is access to the river. The road is not plowed so getting there can be tough if we get to much snow. And a reminder there is no cell phone service there, so be careful to not get stuck.

Tips for the Week

This is your best location for consistent dry fly fishing. The best bite is taking place in the middle of the day. There can be great blue winged olive and dark midges hatch coming off the water at anytime. Nymphing here is also a great option with most the fish holding in slower deep pools. Anglers nymphing should really try to downsize their presentation in winter, smaller indicators, tiny split shot and fishing just one fly.

Suggested Flies
