The Wood River should continue improving for brown trout this week. Grasshoppers are around. The river remains slightly off-color due to runoff on Sun Creek and Annie Creek. Water temperature will continue warming significantly this week increasing hatches. Fishing below Weed Rd is best.
There are good hatches coming off right now including pale morning duns, salmonflies and midges. Brown trout will key in on these hatches in certain areas.
For brown trout the best section to fish is above Crooked Creek from boat. Fishing near Fort Creek might also be productive. Bank access is available below Weed Rd and at the USFS Day Use Area. The day use area should be fair for casting hopper and caddis patterns. The best bet from shore is below Weed Rd.
Large redband trout are moving into the river.
Bull trout are becoming more common in the catch. Know the difference between brook trout and bull trout. This article on MyODFW.com can help.
