There have been some really great hatches on the LT over the last week, and we’ve seen the fish switch gears from focusing on the PMD’s to almost exclusively taking BWO’s. The baetis are really small out here right now, anywhere from a size 20-24, and when fishing flies this small light tippet is very important. So, make sure to have 6x or 7x to fish these effectively. At 60 CFS, the nymph fishing can be a bit tough, but using a lightweight tight-line set up or a dry dropper is still very effective so long as you remain stealthy, and are willing to move and cover a good amount of water. With the windy days this week, your best bet for fishing out here would be a hopper dropper or a lightweight indicator set up with unweighted flies and small splitshot. The flies that have been working out here have been, Juju baetis in size 20, rainbow warriors in size 20, black and olive zebra midges in sizes 20-22, flexy floss worms in red, pink and brown, and tan San Juan worms.
