Action: Closes all fishing.

Effective date: Sept. 23, 2024, until further notice.

Species affected: All species.

Locations:

  • Hoh River and all tributaries (Jefferson County) from Olympic National Park Boundary near the mouth upstream to Olympic National Park boundary below mouth of South Fork Hoh River.
  • Hoh River, South Fork, and all tributaries (Jefferson County) outside of Olympic National Park boundary.

Reason for action: Low flows have resulted in coho and Chinook holding in the lower river and not moving upstream to spawning grounds. Returning salmon abundance will be monitored and fishing may be reopened as conditions change. Tribal co-managers are also taking conservation actions.

Additional information: Anglers can check the emergency rules webpage for updates or sign up for the Fishing Rule Change alerts email list on the WDFW webpage.

Information contact: Region 6 (Montesano Office), 360-249-4628.
