The Metolius remains one of Oregon’s most exciting fishing locations. While the Green Drake hatch has dwindled in activity it’s possible they can still be found, especially later in the day, but don't expect much. Be sure to bring both #10 and #14 patterns to match the sizes of the emerging insects. Along with the Green Drake, expect to see PMDs, Mahogany Duns, and BWOs hatching in decent numbers. If nymphing is more your style, caddis pupa, Perdigons, Egan’s Frenchies, and golden stonefly nymphs are all producing. Withfall approaching, kokanee salmon are beginning to migrate, and rainbow trout are feeding heavily on drifting orange eggs. If targeting Bull Trout, larger articulated streamers like Dolly Llamas are the way to go, particularly in the early mornings.
