The Lower Deschutes is fishing exceptionally well right now, with October Caddis hatches bringing dry fly action in the afternoons and evenings. Nymphers are still seeing great results, particularly with stonefly nymphs paired with Perdigons or two-bit nymphs. With steelhead moving up the river, this is the perfect time to target them.

For steelhead, the most successful setup continues to be a sink tip with intruder-style streamers. Ignore floating lines as we continue into 40 degree days as warm weather is behind us.

Just a reminder: the Warm Springs to Trout Creek section is closed to fishing from November 1 until April 22, 2025 on the tribal side. All waters west of the main channel are off-limits during this time, and tribal fishing permits are only valid during the General Trout Season, from April 22 to October 31. Fishing on the river-right remains open until December 31st.  Plan accordingly if you're heading out to this section of the river.

Water levels are stable, and with prime fall conditions, both trout and steelhead fishing are solid right now. If you're looking to get out there, don’t wait too long!
