Water Conditions

On the Truckee River, water is coming out of Lake Tahoe at 75 cubic feet per second and rolling through the town of truckee at 150 cubic feet per second. Glenshire flows are currently really good at 234 CFS. Near the stateline, flows are coming in at 459 cubic feet per second.

Tips for the Week

The whole river is fishing fair to good. Anglers are having success either indicator nymphing or using dry flies on the Truckee River. Fish will tend to rise for dries around the hatch times. Hatches are occuring around 11am to 3pm on the sunny days. Target the slower winter water in the body of the pools and the tail outs. Use smaller flies around size 18 to 20 for better results.

Suggested Flies or Lures

Some fly favorites to try on the Truckee River this week are red headed step child size 18, zebra midge black and red size 20, black leech size 10, BWO dry size 18, or midge size 20.
