Our first charter of the year aboard the PACIFIC DAWN found fishing the west end of San Miguel Island. We were greeted as we boarded by Capt Pat and Capt Dustin, also there was deckhand \"Man Dog\" Mike and galley chef Whitney, rounding out the crew for this trip was pinhead Tanner. After signing in and securing our bunks it was time for out safety briefing from Capt Pat. He said our plan for tomorrow was to look around for some squid and try for exotics at grey light, if we couldn\'t find any, we would head for San Miguel. There was no squid to be found and as we were waking up to the smell of bacon in the galley, San Miguel was in sight. Capt Pat came over the intercom and said we had another 45 minutes to the first spot he wanted to try, so we all indulged in some really good chorizo and egg burritos. After a very hearty breakfast, we were at our destination and anxious to drop our lines in the water. We fished from 150 feet to as shallow as 40 feet through out the day and were bringing up some really nice reds and chuckle heads, the whitefish made a quick showing as well as a few sheephead. There were many lingcod caught, but only a few made to legal size, with the jackpot ling going to Jill from Denver. We had a great group of anglers and all went home with some huge bags of fillets, thanks to the crew for making this a very memorable trip. Check out our future charters aboard the PACIFIC DAWN and get on some great trips with a great crew.
