Water Conditions:
A little algae is starting to show up here and there but no big deal at this point. The north end has some discoloration but again no impact on generally clear water.
Fishing Conditions and Hatches:
Excellent - not much change since last report. Great hatches daily are big gray/black and all black. Fish are still somewhat at Sandy Point area but pretty scratchy most days. The fleet (like 30 boats plus tubers) continues to park there. The cognoscenti are fishing Big Hilton and Leighton/Alligator and sticking a range of fish up to 24" and double digit body counts in a five-hour session. Rainbows and Browns. Some scattered 20"+ fish near the bathroom at McGee in about 22 ft, down about 18 ft. Fish finder and deep water indicator required. Streamer action has picked up along Green Banks and no one there much.
Recommended Flies:
Red/black Optitiger with dubbed head has been best producer early then go to straight black or gray/black dubbed Optimidge as the sun gets higher. Both in size 16. Black/Gold Zebra size 16 will also do the job. Try a Red Barron larva pattern from the guide box before the pupea get started daily.
