The Flows
Conditions are starting to stabilize on the Truckee. Flows are coming down every day and the upper river is in excellent shape. The section from Tahoe City to Truckee is very fishable right now as flows in the town of Truckee are down to 269 CFS. From Truckee to Boca Bridge the flows have come way down as well and getting better every day. Once you get to Boca Bridge the flows are still really high due to all the tributaries contributing to the eventual flows on the lower river. Below Boca it is still really high at 1110. The flows Downstream of Boca Bridge stay over 1000 CFS all the way through Reno. Only a week ago it was over 1500 CFS in the same stretch of water. Although the lower part of the river is fishable right now be very careful wading. It looks harmless but it is still flowing very hard and fast.

You can break the river into two sections right now with the confluence of the Little Truckee at the Hirschdale road exit being the divider. The upper section is totally wadeable and has been fishing really good.

The Hatches
There has been a variety of bugs hatching and the fish are making up for lost time. The best hatches are in the evenings. Caddis, Little Yellow Stones and some Mayflies can all be seen. During the day nymphing with a Golden Stone or a Green Drake and a smaller dropper like a Caddis or a Little Yellow Stone has been working.

The lower river below Boca is a lot higher. It is clearing and fishable but it is a lot tougher to wade. The evening hatches have been epic! Fish the banks and the slower water out of the main current. Streamers fished with a sink tip line are a great way to get into some really big fish right now. The Nevada side has already been stocked and the fishing is really good, just be careful wading. The water is still really cold and flowing hard.
