The hook, line and sinker tournament last week produced some really nice fish. There were at least 3 fish caught over 10 pounds (and hopefully released). The fishing seemed to improve overall the past week. The water is still too deep to wade out to the normal spots at most of the major beaches. This is probably going to be the case for the rest of the spring.

What this means is deeper beaches should fish a little better until the fish decide to really come in shallow. Weather and wind are going to play a huge part in this. Trout in lakes do not like to be in shallow water when it is clear and calm, especially if there are pelicans around!!! Fish the windy days and when the fish come in shallow, back up so you do not spook them.

Fish were caught on a variety of techniques and flies last week including Bloody Marys, Olive Martini's and Popcorn Beetles with shooting head set ups and Maholo Midges in wine and black with floating line/indicator set ups.

The best action has still been with small nymphs and midges though we have had some really good reports on dries and a few good reports on streamers. The majority of fish being caught are in the 14 to 17 inch range with a few here and there that...... Read More
