We have had some tough drift trips here as the flows continue to creep upward. They have settled in at 410cfs for about a week now and we will begin drifting again soon if they hold. Wading is tough at this release and you will have about half the water accessible in the wild trout section. Fish the softer runs and eddies using a lot of weight to get your midges and mayfly nymphs near the bottom and drop-offs quickly. The fish have moved into the riffles and tail outs but it can be difficult to wade into a good presentation position. PMD's and caddis are on the menu, stick to #16-18. Streamer fishing using heavy sinking tip lines with Loebergs and Spruce-A-Bu's is also a good way to cover the water and can be more effective under conditions like this. The key is positioning, focus on the softer water along the tulle's or at the tail sections of larger pools.
