Sportfishingreport.com would like to welcome Captain Mike Pritchard and the Tribute as the newest addition to the Seaforth Landing offshore fishing fleet. Captain Pritchard has renamed the boat Tribute, in honor of longtime mentor Bill Poole, and has the boat tuned up, in the water and ready to fish. Captain Pritchard, his crew and an eager group of 30 anglers set off this past weekend on the Tribute's inaugural offshore fishing voyage. What a trip it was! Captain Prichard has done an incredible job fixing up and repainting the Tribute but that didn't stop an enthusiast group of anglers from breaking it in right. The yellowtail fishing was off the hook and a fresh coating of blood on the deck seemed the appropriate way to begin the new boats fishing odyssey. The weather was perfect, seas were calm and the floating kelp paddies were easy to spot and thick with hungry yellowtails. Scores ranged between a few fish per paddy to straight wide open yellowtail frenzy with fish biting the sardines, surface irons and the plastics. Great team work and camaraderie between the crew and anglers meant for tension free fishing and great times for everyone a board. Fishing this good meant it wasn't long before we had a Mexican boat limit of 150 hard fighting 6-12 lb. yellowtail in the fish hold bleed out and chilling cold for the ride home. Nice! With plenty of day left to fish we left the yellows biting and headed out in search of some tuna. Recent reports of catches of tuna and improving water conditions indicates it shouldn't be long before someone runs into a nice school of tuna within local range. Today wasn't our day to land a tuna but with a fish hold full of yellowtail and a boatload of happy anglers both Captain Pritchard and all the anglers aboard felt privileged to be back on the water fishing. Prospects are great for another incredible season and the Tribute will be on top of the action all season long. The Tribute will be fishing out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego and is online for overnight and 1 ?? day trips. Captain Pritchard will be updating their website frequently with on the water reports and of course we'll be reporting all the happenings here at Sportfishingreport.com. Check their website at www.tributesportfishing.com to book online or at the Seaforth Landing website or by calling the landing at 1-619-224-3383.
