DWR biologists will start spawning cutthroat trout once a week beginning May 7. The Swan Creek trout trap is used by Bear Lake biologists to collect adult cutthroat trout, take their eggs and stock them back into Bear Lake. Sometimes, the fish replace the captive brood fish spawned to produce eggs for Strawberry Reservoir and other waters stocked with Bear Lake cutthroat trout. Some cutthroat trout are passed upstream where they are allowed to naturally spawn in the stream.
