New salmon, steelhead, sturgeon endorsement

The view of the Snake River from a trail north of Hells Canyon Dam. Beginning Jan. 1, 2014 anglers fishing for salmon, steelhead or sturgeon in the Columbia River and its tributaries will be required to have a Columbia River Basin endorsement. See a map of the Basin and get more information.


SNAKE RIVER: fall Chinook

    - Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, or until further notice, open 7 days a week from the OR/WA border upstream to the deadline below Hell's Canyon Dam.

    - From Oct. 31 to Nov. 17, only the reach of the Snake River from Cliff Mountain Rapid (RM 246.7) upstream to the deadline below Hells Canyon Dam will remain open.

    - Daily bag limit is six adipose fin-clipped adult fall chinook; no daily, possession or season limits on jack salmon (less than or equal to 24-inches long)

    - Barbless hooks only.

    - Refer to 2014 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations  for other gear and method restrictions and legal angling times.
