Sport Halibut Update

Columbia River Subarea-- both the all-depth and nearshore fisheries close by regulation on
September 30. Central Coast Subarea Nearshore-- Total catch in this fishery, though September 21, is 14,512
pounds. This leave 7,762 pounds (35%) of the quota remaining. The
regulatory closure date for this fishery is October 31, if the quota is not caught by then. Southern Oregon Subarea--catch in this subarea has hit the pre-season allocation. However
due to unused quota from another area, it remains open, likely until the regulatory closure of October 31. Public Meetings Announced ODFW will be hosting public meetings in Astoria, Newport, Brookings, and Coos Bay to get
