Fly fishing has continued to be pretty good.  McGee Bay has been the most consistent place to fish.  There are fish all along the creek channel from in shallow, all the way out to 18 feet deep. You can also fish outside of the channels, along the weed edges.  There are some very big browns patrolling these weed beds looking for the baby perch.  When you are fishing the weed beds, make sure you have a small Birds Nest or Punk Perch somewhere on your leader.  We have been doing better using midges when fishing the channels.  Start with a Copper Tiger, Copper Zebra, or Red Baron early in the morning.  Around 8:00 am, I've been switching over to the grey patterns.  Super Fly and Shaft Emergers, along with the regular Super Fly and Shaft.  Little Hilton has been very good for the small recent planters.  If you have some kids who want to catch fish, this is the place for them.  I've had a few reports from the guys fishing Green Banks, there are fish holding in 9 feet of water on the inside edges of the weed beds.  This would be a good place for all you float tubers; it's not a 45 minute kick like McGee Bay.  Crooked Creek has lots of small fish also, but you can take your 3 weight back there in the evenings and get them on dries.  Mickey Baron Crowley Lake Guide Service 760 935-4301.                                                                                                                                                         Trolling has gotten tougher but there are still quality trout to catch. The DFG planters and the perch fry have been feeding the bigger fish nicely and they are getting a little pickier for us. You can still get some in the deep water by trolling lures at 30-35 feet down mostly in the harbor area and towards the dam. If you use downriggers you have more options of lures. I would put down rainbow imitations and even perch fry imitations including the green Arctic Fox trolling flies. If you are using lead core you probably need to be using the Tasmanians as they will help get the depth you need. Best colors are the frog patterns, green, funky and bull frog. Another way to get them is outside the midgers in McGee Bay. Stay in the 20-25 foot water and pull size 9 floating Rapalas in silver and black or rainbow colors. Put them down about 15 feet. Arctic fox trolling flies will also work here with the wiggle things giving them action. Perch are the main attraction for the local guys right now with the fish suspended towards the middle of the lake 15 feet down. Use small Rebels and Rapalas both solid and broken back and go slow. The perch have moved off of their spawning beds all over the lake.  After they finish with their spawn, they start to suspend over deep water. The best way to catch them is to slow troll outside the weed beds with lead core line. You don't have to be very deep; the fish are usually only 15 to 20 feet down. Slow troll a small broke back rapalla, or a small crank bait. As the summer progresses, they will continue to move towards the deeper sections.
