A few anglers risked the ice, and some reported fair to good fishing for rainbows and walleye. Please keep in mind that the ice is irregular and unstable in many areas. (Last week, anglers reported fishing in open water.) Most of the best fishing reports suggest fishing during the mid-morning and late-afternoon hours. Try using small jigs or jigging spoons tipped with bait -- like worms, mealworms or cut bait. Try a larger presentation for walleye. Most of the walleye are small and you can help the fishery by taking them home.
