Lake Almanor - CA (Plumas County)

Website
Surface temps around 65 degrees midday. Lake levels are the lowest I have seen in my 16 years here. Lake Almanor’s waters are warmer down deeper this year due to PGE taking cold water off the bottom releases at Canyon Dam. The taking of this cold water off the bottom has effected the fishing. Fish are feeling the heated water lowering, and are being compressed closer to the bottom each day. Downrigger balls running at 35 feet deep feel warm to the touch when retrieved, instead off feeling cool. Fishing pressure is very light. Rainbows to 21 inches reported along the east side of the peninsula.
Trollers have been running Rainbow Runners in orange, #2 Needlefish in Fire tiger, and the 1/6 oz. Speedy Shiners in silver hammer finish and red and gold. Doug Neal: (530) 258-6732 http://www.almanorfishingadventures.com
