Ice Fishing is Good

South Fork ice is averaging around five to six inches thick with a bit of snow on top of slippery ice, though with this week’s precipitation, there may be a bit more snow. Some form of traction attached to your boots is advised. Trout have been cruising the shallows with most being caught in less than 10 feet of water. Often the anglers aren’t even aware that they have had a bite as the fish are hitting the bait so softly. Best bet would be to fish shallow, and jig the presentation slowly holding the rod at all times to feel the takes. The usual PowerBait and worms seem to be working.
