The lake temp. here at Del Valle is still sitting at 50-55 degrees.  This morning i clocked the water temp. at 53 degrees, with the water being extremely murky from the lake level dropping so smell is what you are going to want to use to capture the attention of the fish.  The trout bite is on with Powerbait with a garlic scent being the best trout bait to use the shallows in.  Swallow Bay is where i personally have had a lot of luck.  Although across from the marina on the West Beach is where a lot of anglers target the trout from shore.  Dip baits are also good to use, dipping a micetail or some Powerbait in some trout dip will increase your catch ration.  The Bass bite is tough, but you can find nice size bass out in heron bay by the dam in clearer water.  You can troll shad imitations our in medium sized water columns or throwing weightless crawlers at the rock points.  The Striped Bass are slow right now, but they are chasing the only ways to get them to bite.  The catfish bite is hot even though it is cold out with the catfish being caught almost exclusively on nightcrawlers the shallow mudflats across from the marina or the shallows in the coves.
