The Trout Fly Fish Report
Water Conditions:
Low water but not that bad the weeds are definitely in full effect . water t emps are on the rise with the recent hot weather.
Fishing Conditions and Hatches:GOOD
Recently people have been catching some fish near the buckeye inlet early in the morning, but the fish are still concentrated in the middle of the lake. You want to be fishing in 12-15 feet of water. Rainbow and Rocky point is still fishing good in 10-16 feet of water. The hatches are still huge. Damsels, Callibaetis and midges are all over the place. Stripping Damsels, and Callibaetis are wise choices . Another good choice would be the Dam for the last couple hours of the day. Make sure to have a very large streamer like a Double Bunny or a Bandit Leech on your line.
Recommended Flies:
MIDGES #8-12 Blood Midges, #14-18 Frostbite Midges in Red, Black or Brown, #16-18 Palamino Midge, #16-18 Tiger or Zebra Midges and #16 OptiMidge in Gray/Black or Black/Red. NYMPHS #14-16 F/B Pheasant Tail, #12 Marabou Damsel, #14-16 Co pper John, #14-18 Scuds and #14 Jansen's Callibaetis STREAMERS #10 Halebopp Leech, #10-12 Damsel in Distress, #14-10, Hornburgs #12-10 Punk Perch in Olive, #12-10 Matukas, #10-8 B/H Pop's Bugger in Brown or Olive and #4-8, Zonkers in White or Olive.
