The winter steelhead fishing is really starting to heat up on all rivers in Northern California and Southern Oregon. Pro Guide Mario Gomez reports the klamath, umpqua, coquille, chetco and smith rivers all seen increased action over the last week as the rivers dropped into shape. As the rivers turned steelhead green the silver creatures that lurk in the depths started to show their presence. Ironhead Guide Service reports a couple bites a day usuelly ending up with most guide boat seeing 1 to 3 fish. The productive techniqe for IGS guides has been side drifting yarn and eggs, with a few fish getting caught each day bactrolling lures.

The Klamath River Fishing has been the most consistant, with good catch rates being had on all sections of the river. Tons of half pounders are keeping folks busy, and 5 to 7 adult winter steelhead to hand is being reported by IGS guides.
