The Fly Shop's Tips: Keep in mind - you can never have enough flies for fishing Hat Creek. These fish are finicky ! Nymphs at Powerhouse Riffle and in the lower section near Lake Britton will usually produce more than dries in the flats, but the reward of tricking some of these PhD trout is well-worth the effort. Use long, delicate leaders, downstream presentations with good mends are a must. Please don't wade through the weedbeds in the slower-moving stretches of Hat Creek, this destroys the habitat, and doesn't help your fishing odds AT ALL. Stay on the banks in carbon flats.
