The river has been at 50cfs for a week now and the fishing has been consistent through that weather we got. The water temps are dropping day by day and there should be some ice and frozen back channels spread throughout the canyon. This time of year the sun is only on the water for a few hours and some sections will hardly get sun at all. Seek out the warmer water with the most sun exposure in order to find some more active fish.

With this cold weather I wouldn't expect much in the way of a hatch but fishing a dry dropper rig would still be my go to. Tight line nymphing as always is a productive way to pick the pockets and find trout in the skinny water. Look for warmer weather if you want some dry fly action, anything above 40 degrees around midday to 3pm is a great bet.
