The Metolius continues to fish well. The stretch above Allingham bridge will be closed until the 22nd. Now that the sun is hitting the water and the days are warming up, expect much more insect activity. For mayflies, expect the usual blue winged olive and small yellow mayfly hatches along with some march browns. Keep an eye out for green drakes, it’s a little early for them but sometimes a small hatch will occur early in the season. There is a smorgasbord of caddis hatches going on. Large size 8 - 12 orange caddis are still out and about, so are smaller tan and grey caddis. A golden stone would be my first choice for nymph patterns right now. Caddis pupa and mayfly nymphs will also be hot flies, especially if a hatch heats up. Green drake nymphs are also a good bet this time of year. Bull trout fishing is good. Nymphing and streamer techniques are both catching a fair amount of fish.
