UMPQUA RIVER, NORTH:
According to the USFS and BLM it appears access to the river has been restored. Please take caution and inquire with them about camp and ramp openings.
Steelhead fishing is in the shoulder season. Summer steelhead are yet to arrive and winters are on their way out. There are likely still some late winters or early summers around.
Anglers have been trying their luck at catching some spring Chinook, but it looks slow. Most anglers are bobber fishing with eggs, shrimp or a combo. Remember to adhere to the anti-snagging rule in effect above Lone Rock Boat Ramp.
Some of the North Umpqua and tributaries are open for trout (those above Slide Creek Dam). These areas may be tough to access during the winter months. Check the fishing regulations to see which areas are open.
Note that as of Oct 1, fishing in the fly water area is restricted to the use of a single, barbless, artificial fly.
UMPQUA RIVER, SOUTH:
The South Umpqua reopened to trout and bass fishing on Saturday, May 22.
Bass fishing should be good throughout the open waters. For trout, try the tributaries or higher sections of the river. Remember the river and tributaries are closed all year about Jackson Creek.
