Three Creek Lake has been fishing quite well. It has been cooler up there so expect most of the hatches to pop off right around the warmest part of the day. Callibaetis are the major hatch, most are around size 16 - 18. Terrestrials are the best surface fly for filling in the gaps between hatches. They typically will perform best near the banks with a nymph dropper. Nymphing has been consistent with callibaetis, dark assassins, and damsels. Due to the shallow waters at Three Creeks Lake, slowly retrieving nymphs with an intermediate line tends to be productive. I would recommend fishing a dry-dropper setup instead of using an indictor, simply because it’s more fun. Getting out there sooner rather than later is a good idea due to the likelihood of continued below-average temperatures. In the high elevations, fall and winter are just around the corner.
Suggested Flies: Black Henrys Fork Caddis #16-18, Black Elk Hair Caddis #16-18, Renegade #16, Chubby Chernobyl #12-16, Foam Ant #12-16, Almost Dun #14-16, Thorax Cali #14-16, Hackle Stacker Cali #14-16, Extendo Cali #14 - 16, Zebra Midge #18-22, Red or Black Two Bit Hooker #16-20, Balanced Leech #12, Balanced Damsel #12, Black Ice Cream Cone #14-18, Ice Cream Cone Chromie #16, Poxyback Cali #14-18, Biot Cali #14-18
