Fishing on the Crooked has been excellent. The cooler weather will likely push the hatches a bit earlier and possibly make the bugs more abundant. There has been a really good pale morning dun hatch with some caddis mixed in. The cool weather this week may even bring out a few blue wing olives in the evening. Terrestrials are still a very good choice as well. Nymphing has been good with PMD nymphs, caddis pupa, two-bit hookers, midges, and perdigons. Swinging soft hackles and pupa is a great idea to try and get an aggressive tight line grab. We’ve been hearing about some really nice trout being caught out on the Crooked recently. If I wanted to catch lots of fish, I would be heading to the Crooked this week.
