The bass have gone deep, the bluegill have disappeared. The catfish are showing up in the backs of the coves. Two fisherman reported catching 4 catfish, the biggest weight 6 pounds, the other 3 were all about 2-2.5 lbs. Jimmy McBride 10 years old caught a 5 pound catfish off the fishing pier using shrimp. John Lamb fishing down Padre Bay caught 3 trout using a black feather spinner.

The bass bite was up this week especially in the north facing coves. Crank baits are working well but it takes a little more skill and experience this time of year. The catfish are showing a little more. Some cats are being caught in Padre Bay, others are coming from San Carlos Cove. The largemouth bass are really falling off. The bass bite is definitely in the afternoon, the bass are busting on shad in the late afternoon. One fishermen reported catching5 bass in the afternoon just by following the boiling bass, he was using Kastmasters, baby flukes and shiners.
