Winter steelhead is expected to pick up as the river drops back into shape later this week and into the weekend. The recent high water will have fish on the move headed for Whitaker Creek and will provide great conditions for winter steelheading over the next couple of weeks.

Anglers are reminded that Whitaker Creek is closed during the steelhead season and to target these fish near the confluence of the Siuslaw River. There is also a small hatchery release in Lake Creek (located at Green Creek) that provides opportunity to catch hatchery winter steelhead from December - March.

Trout fishing in streams will reopen May 22, 2022.
