Castaic held at 55 percent of capacity, and water temperatures were in the mid to upper fifties. Anglers spent another week battling heavy winds, but there’s usually a few shelter coves in the fish arm. Largemouth have been biting Senkos, Carolina rigs, and drop shot in 5 to 20 feet of water. Green Pumpkin, Ox Blood, and shad were good colors last week. Striper ate cut sardines in 25 to 60 feet of water with most of the action happening in the ski arm. Striper also went for trolled flies and small swimbaits on leadcore line in 25 to 50 feet of water. Trout anglers used the usual line up of minijigs, dough bait, and Pinched Crawlers to fool a fair number of fish near the marina. Many of the trout have spread throughout the lake with anglers reporting bigger trout in the backs of coves. Catfish anglers used chicken liver, dip bait, and nightcrawlers to land good numbers of fish.
