The Upper Kern remains one of the hot spots for trout. Weekly plants are keeping it going and anglers have reported limit style fishing throughout the 20-mile stretch. The Upper Kern was stocked this week in Section 5, Powerhouse #3 to Fairview Dam. Trout have been coming on Salmon eggs, minijigs, spinners and pinched crawlers. In the Lower Kern were still getting reports of trout coming out of the canyon. The flows are ideal, and trout have been coming on salmon eggs, Get Bent Baits, GULP! pinched crawlers and Powerbait. The Bass bite is very steady in the Lower Kern. Although most of the fish are on the smaller side, they’re biting good with Get Bent Baits, Senkos, jigs, and spinners. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 455 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 435 CFS.
