We have heard a mixed bag of reports from the Upper Deschutes. Some people are reporting action on purple haze, parachute adams etc. and nymphing in deeper water has been good. Small cj’s, rainbow warriors, two-bits and caddis nymphs are all good flies up there. Stripping streamers around some of the downed timber and undercut banks can be dangerous on your fly collection, but produce some quality fish. Dry-dropper setups are also fun and effective on the upper. The warmer weather we are experiencing now will likely get the bugs and the fish a bit more active and it is tough to beat a summer day up there.
