Low dissolved oxygen levels and a corresponding fish kill was documented by biologists last winter and gillnet surveys confirmed that no trout survived. The reservoir was restocked with 850 catchable-sized rainbow trout and 250 catchable-sozed tiger trout. Prior to winter, fishing was good for smaller but healthy trout (12-16 inches). A water quality monitoring buoy and SolarBee circulator were installed in the deepest part of the lake in the fall. The circulator will mix the surface water 24 hours a day, thereby reducing the potential for overwinter fish kills. Ice now covers the reservoir, but there's open water around the circulator which could also cause uniform ice thickness, so please maintain a safe distance.
