Stocking: Last week 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout was stocked. The next stocking of rainbows will be the week of December 12th where another 1,500 pounds of trout will go in the lake. Ten percent of every stock is over three pounds.
What's the catch? The trout bite was on fire this weekend! Mini jigs were the way to go. Siesta Cove and the southeastern shoreline were good spots to drop a line. Trout were also schooling in Shadow and Sentry Coves. You'll need a boat to get there though. The bass bite was good on and around the t-dock as well as Sentry Point. Drop shot, Texas rig and Senkos work best in our lake. The panfish are usually schooling in Half Moon Cove this time of year. Meal worms or a piece of nightcrawler will encourage a bite.
Fishing Licenses: Licenses for 2023 are on sale now and valid 365 days after date of purchase if purchased after January 1, 2023. The annual fee is $58.58. Fishermen 16 and over are required to have a valid California state fishing license. CLICK HERE to purchase your 2023 license.
Conditions: The water temperature around the boat dock is 70 degrees. The district is filling the lake, so be mindful of newly submerged structure when boating. The days are getting shorter with the sun rising around 6:31 a.m. and setting at 4:42 p.m. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
