Stocking: One thousand pounds of catfish was stocked the week of June 19th. Another 1,000 pounds will go into the lake this week! Catfish season will run until mid-October. We’ll stock a total of 8,500 pounds this season.
What’s the Catch? Lots of Bluegill were reeled in during the sunny days this weekend. Half Moon Cove is always a good place to catch ‘gills. Make sure you cast out past the tulles and have plenty of meal and wax worms on hand. Bass were biting on drop shot and plastics. We heard reports of them biting around the tower buoy line and the t-dock. The warm days and rising water temps are bringing the catfish out of hiding finally. Expect the bite to pick up with the current conditions and stock this weekend. Patience was rewarded and limits were reeled in on the southeastern shoreline as well as Siesta and Cloister Coves. Sounds like they were biting on anything garlic flavored. We even had a report of a trout reeled in by boat! They were fishing deep-past 30 feet. Don’t forget to send us your fishing pics from your visit with us!
Conditions: With the rising air and water temps as well as the new moon and stocking, expect this weekend to be epic for catfish! The sun is rising at 5:49 a.m. and setting at 7:58 p.m.
