Stocking: One thousand pounds of catfish will be stocked this week bringing our total stock so far this season up to 4,500 pounds! Catfish season will run until mid-October. We’ll stock a total of 8,500 pounds this season.

What’s the Catch? Bluegill and Crappie were in abundance this weekend. They were biting in Cloister and Half Moon Cove, but we also had lots of boats come in with stringers. Fish tacos for everyone! Wax worms and red worms were the baits of choice. Quite a few catch and release bass were also reported. The t-dock and Shadow Cove on Senkos or Robos is what we heard from anglers. Catfish were biting during night fishing. They become more active at sunset. Boats were catching limits and reported garlic bait was the way to go. Garlic nightcrawlers, shrimp, attractant, etc. If you haven’t tried using an immersible light yet, our rangers recommend one of our bell or bobber lights available in the bait shop. The light attracts the bait fish, which then attracts the cats.

Conditions: The water temperature is a balmy 77 degrees. The water draw continues, so there is lots of shoreline to fish. Be aware of shallow structure if you’re in a boat especially around the points. The next new moon is August 16th. The sun is rising at 6:02 a.m. and setting at 7:46 p.m.
