The Pit is a little warm on the upper end on Pit 3 in the afternoons, but these shorter days and cloudy weather have helped cool things off. With the storm tomorrow and early Saturday, you can expect great fishing on the upper reaches below Lake Britton. Caddis have predominated in the evenings, but look for Baetis and other insects to come off when it is cloudy all day. Bird's Nests in #14 & 16, Amberwing Prince Nymphs, and any and all of the Perdigons are working well. You can likewise get after it with your Euro rod with any of your favorite BWO nymphs. With some hoppers around, a hopper-dropper setup can be exciting. Be careful, though! This can be a slippery river to wade.
Be aware that the flows on the Pit can and will change without notice, so definitely check before you go! And be prepared to get out when the river begins to rise.
