You will find Spotted Bass early and late cruising the shoreline looking for hatching insects and baitfish. Fish the shade. An angler working a Mini Bass Popper or Wiggle Minnow parallel and right on the shore could do very well. During the day you will find the bass keyed in on Crayfish. A Titan taper sinking line will get you down into the clay banks, fish a Pumpkin or Rootbeer Grim Reaper, a Whitlock Scorpion in Rootbeer, or a Bouncing Crayfish. If you are in a boat, cast it and walk it down the bank, eats will be subtle. Float N' Fly action can still be happening, you may have to find a bait ball and / or drop your fly as deep as you can fish it. For now, the trout are in deep water, at least 50 ft or lower. As we get into October they will begin coming up to chase the Shad.
