Stocking: One thousand pounds of catfish was stocked this week! So far 6,500 pounds of catfish have been stocked this season. Night fishing will continue through the month of October. Don’t forget your lantern!
What’s the Catch? The best coves for catfish this weekend were Half Moon and Shadow. Fishermen limited out quickly in Half Moon Cove with some sizeable cats (+6 lbs.). We like mackerel and garlic shrimp for catching catfish, but don’t sleep on dip baits. Bass were hanging in Sentry Cove this weekend. It was reported to our dockhands that boats caught over 30 bass on Saturday! Senkos and Roboworms in green pumpkin or purple varieties were reeling them in. The t-dock and Hermit Cove were the places to catch sunfish. Schools were reported in both locations with pieces of red worm and wax worms being the most productive baits.
Conditions: The water temperature is 80 degrees. The evenings have cooled down a good bit, so we expect the water temp to follow suit in the coming weeks. Be aware of shallow structure if you’re in a boat especially around the points. The next new moon is this week! The sun is rising at 6:30 a.m. and setting at 6:58 p.m.
