Stocking: One thousand pounds of catfish was stocked last week! The next stocking of 1,000 pounds will be the week of September 11th. Catfish season will run until mid-October. We’ll stock a total of 8,500 pounds this season. Nightfishing will continue through the month of October. Don’t forget your lantern!
What’s the Catch? As usual, the fishing is good after a stocking. Most catfish limits reported were coming in on boats around Shadow Cove and Half Moon Cove. Dip baits and mackerel were reeling them in. The bass were hungry last weekend as well. A lot of catch and release bass were reeled in at the t-dock and the coves around the boat dock. There were reports of sunfish and crappie this weekend in Half Moon Cove. They were biting on meal worms. It sounds like the best all around fishing these days is in Half Moon Cove. The panfish will be hanging near the shoreline and expect the bass and catfish to be patrolling the periphery hoping to snag a meal.
Conditions: The water temperature is 78 degrees. Be aware of shallow structure if you’re in a boat especially around the points. The next new moon is September 14th. It looks like the temperatures will cool down this weekend. See the weekend forecast below. The sun is rising at 6:21 a.m. and setting at 7:17 p.m.
