Stocking: One thousand pounds of catfish was stocked last week! So far 6,500 pounds of catfish have been stocked this season. Night fishing will continue through the month of October. Don’t forget your lantern!
What’s the Catch? With overcast skies and cooler temps, the fishing was good this weekend. Half Moon Cove continues to be the hot spot for all varieties of fish. Sunfish were biting off of the t-dock and there were reports of schools of sunfish in Half Moon Cove. Wax and meal worms are good baits for panfish, but we’ve had reports that everything is biting on red worms, including the Redears. As the water temps start to cool, you can expect the panfish to move into shallow coves with bass not far behind them. Half Moon Cove and Eagle Cove are the most active spots for bass right now. Senkos and Roboworms are your best bet. Catfish were caught off of Eagle Point and Shadow Cove. They were biting on blood flavored dip bait and chicken livers. The cats were active early in the morning in addition to the evening hours.
Conditions: The water temperature is 78 degrees. The water temp is beginning to cool as the evenings have cooled down a good bit. Be aware of shallow structure if you’re in a boat especially around the points. The sun is rising at 6:30 a.m. and setting at 6:58 p.m.
