These small storms over the last week have done little to change conditions on the Truckee in regards to water flows and temps. Touching upon my opening paragraph from this weeks report, one thing that I have learned in my years of trout fishing is these fish like consistency, so we expect fishing to remain fair, especially as the air temps rise early next week. Indicator fishing will be the preferred method of finding fish this time of year, as fish are now being found in slow water and the bugs we are fishing can be down to a size 20. We have been doing good on an attractor fly such as a worm or an egg, paired with a smaller fly like a BWO or midge. The fish remain most active mid-day, slowing down around 3:00pm. With good conditions along the entire river, there is not one spot that is really fishing particularly good. We recommend moving around and trying different sections each time you go out, after all, exploring new water is always a fun way to spend the day.
If you would like to go fishing with us please check out our website Trout Creek Outfitters.com or call (530) 563-5119.
