Isabella lake increased this week to 58 percent of its capacity and continues to rise. The wind has been the biggest challenge up here. During periods of calm, the crappie action has been excellent. We’ve had multiple reports of anglers scoring limits of slabs from kayaks, boats, and from shore. The bite has been wide open. The best reports have come from structure in South Fork near cages and trees in 5 to 15-feet of water. Crappie anglers have been scoring them with Keitech 2” swimbaits in 1/16oz heads in chartreuse, white, electric shad and purple. They’ve also been fooling slabs with white minijigs along with small or medium live shiners. The bass bite has been mediocre at best. Last weekend total weight of 12.66 lbs won the American Bass tournament. Bass have been coming on mid diving jerkbaits and crankbaits. Zoom trick worms on Shakey heads and natural shad Senkos are fooling bass. Trout fishing has been steady the last few weeks. Anglers scored trout with minijigs, garlic scented Powerbait, and spinners. Trollers have done well on non-windy days with leadcore followed by Flicker shad, Tasmanian Devils and Needlefish. Catfish are starting to get more active and we had an earlier report this week from Camp 9 area. Catfish have been fooled with SSS Dip Bait, cut mackerel, and frozen shad.
