Catfish Season: We stocked 1,500 pounds of Channel Catfish from Alpine Fishery the week of May 20th. The next stocking of 1,000 pounds will be the week of June 17th. A total of 8,500 pounds of catfish will be stocked this season.
What’s the Catch? The stock was hungry and biting! The catfish weren’t particular about bait. We heard they were biting on mackerel, nightcrawlers, hot dogs, and dip baits, to name a few. From shore, the t-dock and Siesta Cove were the most active, but limits were caught by boat off of Eggert’s and Sentry Points. Fishing on or close to the bottom with some form of bait will usually generate a bite. The Bluegill bite was busy in Half Moon Cove again last weekend. Large schools of ‘gills are hanging out near shore. We heard they were biting on pieces of nightcrawlers.
Conditions: The current water temperature at the surface is around 72 degrees. The lake is well oxygenated. The sun is rising at 5:42 a.m. and setting at 7:50 p.m. The next New Moon is June 6th.
Please be aware of exposed and submerged structure while boating and muddy shoreline around the lake. The lake elevation is 677’. The lake draw is complete. It will remain at the current elevation until construction is complete. Check the scope of the project and progress by visiting East County Advanced Water Purification | Helix Water District, CA (hwd.com).
