Catfish Season: We stocked 1,500 pounds of Channel Catfish from Alpine Fishery the week of May 20th. The next stocking of 1,000 pounds will be the week of June 17th. A total of 8,500 pounds of catfish will be stocked this season.
What’s the Catch? Despite the catfish stocking, the trout bite was on fire last weekend. Limits were still being pulled mostly by boat. The June gloom that has settled over the lake in the morning helps with the trout bite. Expect trout to be 30-40 feet deep. We heard they were biting on Powerbait. The catfish bite picked up at sunset. Reports were mackerel and garlic shrimp were reeling them in from the shore. There were a number caught by boat as well closer to the buoy lines and off of Eggert’s Point. Panfish bites were reported as well. Lots of Redear and Bluegill in Half Moon on meals worms. No reports of bass last weekend.
Conditions: The current water temperature at the surface is around 72 degrees. June gloom prevails in the morning, but by noon the marine layer usually disperses and the afternoons are sunny. The lake is well oxygenated. The sun is rising at 5:42 a.m. and setting at 7:50 p.m. New Moon is June 6th.
