Pyramid Lake remained near 92 percent of its storage capacity, and fishing has been fair to good. The large and smallmouth bite can be tough this time of year. Savvy anglers went low and slow with finesse plastics. Drop shot, Ned rigs, and jigs have been taking fish as deep as 40 feet with dark purple, brown, and dark green getting bites. The key has been a slow presentation. Spoons and deep diving cranks took bass as well. Striped bass ate cut baits and lugworms at Yellowbar and near the island. Trolling A-rigs pulled striped bass off main lake points in 25 to 50 feet of water. Trout anglers used dough baits, Pinched Crawlers, and Mousetails to put good sized rainbows on their stringers. The marina was the best bet for trout anglers, but fish have been reported in the coves south of the marina too.
